Christmas is a magical time, and in the province of Cádiz, it’s celebrated with a special charm. Illuminated streets, decorated squares, and colorful markets create a unique atmosphere that invites families to enjoy it together.
In addition to the beauty of its lights and decorations, traditions are kept alive, making this time of year perfect for sharing with loved ones, discovering local culture, and embracing the festive spirit.
Rota not only offers beaches and a welcoming atmosphere, but at Christmas, it’s filled with lights, markets, and family events. Strolling through its decorated streets, enjoying Christmas workshops, or visiting local nativity scenes makes any visit a perfect plan for all ages.
Jerez is a land of wine, horses, and flamenco, and during Christmas, it dresses up in its finest. Amidst traditional Christmas music, flamenco dancing, singing, nativity scene exhibitions, and artisan markets, the city offers activities for the whole family.
In both Rota and Jerez, the hotels and tourist apartments of Hoteles Andaluces con Encanto offer the perfect starting point to experience Christmas in comfort and style.

If you’re looking for ways to enjoy the holidays, here are some activities you can’t miss:
Have you heard of the famous Zambombas of Jerez?
They are a deeply rooted Christmas tradition consisting of festive gatherings in patios, squares, social clubs, wineries, or streets, where family, neighbors, friends, or associations come together to sing Christmas carols in the flamenco style, clap, play guitars, tambourines… and, of course, play the “zambomba,” a traditional instrument that gives the celebration its name.
Since 2015, the Jerez zambomba (a traditional Christmas carol) has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), recognizing its importance as part of Andalusian Christmas cultural heritage.
From Hotel Villa Jerez, it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the center of Jerez and only 8 minutes by car, an ideal location to enjoy tranquility without sacrificing proximity to the city’s main attractions.

Pestiños in Rota and Jerez: A Traditional Christmas Taste
Pestiños are one of the most typical sweets in Andalusia during Christmas, and in both Rota and Jerez de la Frontera they are an essential part of festive tables. They are a thin dough fried in olive oil, usually flavored with anise or white wine, and coated with honey or sugar, depending on family or local tradition.
Their crispy texture and sweet flavor make them perfect to accompany coffee, hot chocolate, or a good sweet Christmas wine.
Don’t forget to try them!
Do you enjoy Christmas markets? In Rota, you’ll find its famous Christmas market, usually set up in the historic center—mainly in squares like Plaza de la Merced—during the holiday season. Besides traditional stalls, this Christmas market offers a wide variety of goods: crafts, decorations, gifts, sweets, local products, and a festive atmosphere… ideal for buying gifts, Christmas decorations, or simply strolling around.
It’s the best way to experience local Christmas, with an authentic atmosphere, lights, music, and tradition!
From November 28th to January 5th, Rota is filled with light and Christmas spirit with a program packed with decorations, markets, live music, and activities for the whole family. A Christmas to enjoy in every way.

Combining Christmas with horseback riding in Rota can be a wonderful plan, as Christmas here offers mild temperatures: daytime highs around 16-17°C, and nighttime lows around 12-13°C. If you’re planning something outdoors like horseback riding, beach walks, or nature trails, it’s a great time—although it’s wise to keep an eye out for possible rain and bring a light jacket. Several companies offer horseback riding tours through rural areas, along beaches, and on nearby trails. The routes generally cover nature, coastline, or country lanes, so even outside of summer, you can find outings in winter—always checking the weather, availability, and schedules.
